Behavioral Health & Substance Abuse
As with many other diseases, mental and behavioral health problems and substance use disorders can be serious, life changing, and debilitating. People seeking treatment for these health issues deserve to feel cared for and safe. Our highly qualified multidisciplinary team is trained to diagnose and treat a variety of mental and behavioral health issues. Our goal is to help patients attain an optimal level of functionality to improve the quality of their lives in a safe, secure environment.Inpatient
CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY UNIT
Our 8-bed inpatient substance abuse unit helps patients 18 years or older undergo medical detoxification in a safe, protected setting. The team is led by board-certified psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners and includes alcohol and drug counselors, licensed professional counselors, social workers and nursing staff. We accept referrals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through our emergency room, or by appointment through our outpatient clinic. Following treatment, patients have free access to our Alcohol and Drug Aftercare Program.INPATIENT PSYCHIATRIC TREATMENT
When someone experiences an emotional or mental crisis, finding help is urgent and critical. At Baptist Behavioral Health Care, some of the most common psychiatric problems we treat include suicidal thoughts, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and PTSD. Our Inpatient Psychiatric Unit accepts admissions 24 hours a day from our office and through the emergency room. Patients have access to individual psychiatry sessions as well as therapists and social workers, and treatment plans are customized to individual patient needs. Additionally, other activities include exercise, relaxation and journaling. Following treatment, patients have free access to our Psychiatric Aftercare Program.

Outpatient
INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM
Focused on helping patients who are struggling with alcohol or drug addiction, this 8-week program provides chemical dependency treatment for patients 18 years or older who have successfully detoxed and are deemed appropriate for admission. The program allows patients to continue their daily lives, including living at home and maintaining a job while receiving treatment. This program adheres to the 12-steps philosophy, and participation in Alcoholics Anonymous® or Narcotics Anonymous is a program requirement.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES
We offer convenient outpatient behavioral health services so patients can receive care on their schedule. Anxiety, depression, stress, and PTSD are some of the conditions we treat through counseling or psychiatric intervention. Our board-certified psychiatrists and licensed professional counselors assess each patient, and tailor care to their specific needs.

Child Services

Baptist Behavioral Health cover a wide range of behavioral health problems for individuals and families. Our licensed providers offer services to those struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, anger problems, family issues, grief, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other mental health disorders.

Adult Services

Covington Place Therapy & Counseling provides clinical assessment and psychotherapy to generics, adults, and couples seeking help with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, depression, relationship and family difficulties, trauma-related disorders, phase of life problems, substance abuse or addiction, anger management, stress management, bereavement, and more. Anyone may refer a patient, including primary care physicians, emergency departments, and inpatient facilities; even the patient can refer themselves. Each referral is considered on a case-by-case basis. A licensed mental health professional will learn about your needs and recommend a course of treatment.

Child Services

Covington Place Therapy & Counseling provides clinical assessment and psychotherapy to children ages six years and older adolescents (teens and preteens), and young adults in individual and group counseling. This Therapy helps children understand their inner emotions and provides support in their lives to cope with stress, identify helpful and unhelpful behaviors, and improve self-esteem. The program examines how children deal with conflict and intense negative emotions and adolescents who have chronic suicidal feelings/thoughts or engage in intentionally self-harmful behaviors. Children and families learn to understand and resolve problems, modify behavior, and make positive changes in their lives.

Mississippi State Hospital – Psychiatry Residency Program

Program Mission Statement

The Mississippi State Hospital Psychiatry Residency Program will train psychiatry residents to be knowledgeable, skillful, and professional in the art and science of psychiatry. Training will be provided in supportive, collegial atmosphere by teaching attendings who have years of experience in their respective fields. After completion of the Mississippi State Hospital Psychiatry Residency Program, the newly-trained physicians will be competent and compassionate psychiatrists.

Since 1971, the Crisis Line has been responding 24/7 to people who are troubled, stressed, and need someone to listen. CONTACT volunteers are available to callers who are experiencing everything from depression, loneliness, abuse, life with HIV, mental illness, sexual assault, grief – up to and including, thoughts of suicide. Callers are listened to and accepted, options are explored, and information and referrals are provided. We are a 501c nonprofit. We are accredited by the International Council for Helplines (formerly CONTACT USA) and a Mississippi partner with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL). We take all of the NSPL calls from 72 of the 82 counties that derive from a Mississippi area code. We also serve as the 24/7 HIV AIDS Hotline for the MS Department of Health and the after hours answering service for the MS Department of Mental Health.
